If you’re an admitted Vol, we know you’ve been waiting to receive your financial aid package. Good news—we have updates for you! The changes made to the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) have caused delays and impacted the financial aid awarding process for universities across the country. Knowing what state and federal financial aid you are eligible for is a big deal, and we are here to support you throughout this process and help you understand your next steps.
UT started financial aid packaging for all incoming first-year and transfer students who filed a FAFSA that didn’t need corrections on April 18.

If You Have Received a Financial Aid Package
Congratulations on receiving your financial aid offer from UT! We’re so excited to welcome you to Rocky Top. Your financial aid offer for the 2024-2025 academic year is available in your MyUTK account. After you log in, check the “My Financial Information” section. Scholarships and grants are automatically accepted on your behalf, but you’ll need to accept or decline any student loan or Federal Work-Study offers you are eligible to receive. Remember to confirm your enrollment by May 15 to secure your spot on Rocky Top!
We’re also mailing printed financial aid packages to incoming first-year and transfer students who filed a FAFSA. This will include your estimated award offer letter, our “Financing Your UT Education” booklet, and a few helpful inserts. Current UT students will receive a digital financial aid offer in MyUTK in June after spring semester grades have posted.

If You Have Not Yet Received a Financial Aid Package
You may see your scholarship offer(s) listed in MyUTK, but you might notice that you do not have a full financial aid package listed (such as the HOPE scholarship, additional financial aid from UT, a Federal Work-Study offer, student loans and more). There may be a few reasons why you have not yet received a full financial aid package. Review the reasons below to see if any of these apply to you:
You Didn’t File a FAFSA
You may not have received a full financial aid offer because you have not yet filed your FAFSA. Filing your FAFSA is an important part of the process to receive many types of federal and state financial aid, including the HOPE Scholarship, some academic and need-based scholarships, grants, federal work-study, and other opportunities. If you have not yet filed your FAFSA, you still have time! File your FAFSA and use UT’s code – 003530 – as soon as possible!
Corrections Need to be Made to Your FAFSA
Some students need to make updates and corrections to their FAFSA application. You should receive an email from Federal Student Aid (FSA) letting you know what corrections are needed. Make those changes as soon as possible to receive your full financial aid offer. To make these changes, log in to your FSA account and follow the directions in your portal. After you submit your revised FAFSA, it will be reprocessed by FSA. Once UT receives your updated FAFSA from FSA, we will send you a financial aid offer!
A small group of students may receive an email explaining that the Department of Education needs to reprocess your FAFSA. If you receive this email, you do not need to take any action at this time. As soon as your FAFSA is reprocessed, UT will receive your FAFSA information and send you a financial aid offer.
You can view the status of your FAFSA in your FSA account. Learn more about FAFSA statuses here.
We’re Here to Support You
UT will continue to receive FAFSA data from the US Department of Education. We will work hard to process your FAFSA and provide you with a financial aid package as soon as we can. You will receive an email from UT when your financial aid offer is available to view.
